Sake in Japanese means all kind of alcohol as one of categolies of drinks. So as you know, Sake is known as Japanese Sake among foreign people. To distinguish sake from the western alcohol "Yoo-shu" like Whisky and wine, we call it "Nihon-shu". The others are "shoochuu", "biiru", "wain" and Whisly and so on.
